Issue with Xbox's Quick Resume Feature Causes Save Problems

Xbox's Quick Resume feature, designed to let players quickly pick up where they left off in their games, is currently causing an issue with the save functionality in Death Stranding Director's Cut. Players on Xbox Series X/S have reported losing progress when using Quick Resume, forcing them to replay certain sections of the game.

Death Stranding Director's Cut launched on Xbox Series X/S on November 7, 2024, five years after its initial PlayStation 4 release. While the Xbox release introduced the critically acclaimed action game to a new audience, players need to be cautious due to a bug that disrupts the save system when using Quick Resume.

The issue arises when the game is launched using Quick Resume, which prevents players from making manual saves or using the auto-save function. As a result, any progress made after loading the game via Quick Resume is lost once the game is closed.

505 Games, the publisher of Death Stranding, has acknowledged the problem and is working on a fix. In the meantime, players should take precautions to avoid losing progress. It's recommended to manually save at the end of each session and fully close the game before starting a new one. To ensure the game doesn’t use Quick Resume, players should follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button on the controller.
Highlight Death Stranding in the Guide menu and press the Menu button.
Select "Quit."
Navigate to "My games & apps" in the Guide.
If Death Stranding is listed under "Quick Resume," highlight it, press the Menu button, and select "Remove from Quick Resume."

This is not the first time Quick Resume has caused issues for Xbox users. Similar problems with Halo Infinite's cosmetic items were also quickly addressed, so it’s expected that a fix for Death Stranding will be rolled out soon.
